This was way back in 2000 I remember had to fix it for buddy quickly and go visit my girlfriend now wife of 18 years. Filled it with silicone and clamped block in place it stopped leaking for a long time. It was lot more work to remove cover and owner needed engine going immediately. There was a oval hole inside bell housing gasket was leaking out of. Here a gasket on bell housing rear timing cover split. This engine was on a pickup to run hay grinder. Years ago we overhauled a 6v 92 it started leaking oil about 100 hours. I picked it up Friday and noticed oil spots on the. Noticed again last week and returned to the dealer, this time they changed the timing chain cover 3 more days for the repair. Got about 600 acres of soybeans to seed yet so that needs to happen first. Took my truck in 2/wks ago for an oil leak, they said it was the crankcase seal. Still can't believe they never did that from the factory all these years later when we saw that when 7100 series Magnums were still under warranty. I can't remember when working on an SRC reman engine if they Loctite the 8 small bolts that hold the rear main seal retainer to the back of the block.I would sure hope so. There is a small soft plug(3/4" or so) at the end of the main oil rifle in that area as well. It should fit snugly with sealant.and then you smack it right in the middle with a hammer to swell it up for a tight fit into the cavity. It is a convex plug that fits into the cavity just beyond the rear cam bearing. There is a soft plug(I believe the proper term is Welch plug?) at the back of the camshaft that can leak. Dale, a couple other possibilities occurred to me as far as oil leaks in this area of the engine that can seem like a rear main seal issue.
